• Un-weaned birds(s) will NOT be shipped.

  • All birds are sold with a 100% health guarantee. This health guarantee will be void
    if my band is removed.

  • All birds are sold free of disease, free of genetic malfunctions, and free from
    any other ailments.

  • I guarantee satisfaction and provide references upon request.

  • Birds are sold with a traceable leg band unless noted, to identify the bird and for
    record keeping purposes.

  • Feather Focus accepts personal checks and all personal checks must clear the bank
before birds will be shipped. If a check is returned, $50.00 will be added to the total
and checks will be turned over to the Credit Bureau for collection.

  • Feather Focus accepts payments through PayPal. Each transaction will be charged
a 3.75% paypal fee for each PayPal transaction.

  • A non-refundable deposit of 25-50% of the price of the bird(s) which is required to
    hold or reserve any bird(s).

  • Deposit will be refunded in full if the bird(s) are undeliverable on sellers part
ONLY for unforseen reasons. This would be something to the effect; like there are
no airports that will accomodate the shipment of your birds etc.

  • Bird(s) MUST be paid in full before delivery or flight arrangements are made. If
payments are not paid according to prior agreement, then birds will be placed up for
re-sale. If this happens, both parties will be notified in writing. I never had to do
this, but I'm just crossing my "T's"

  • Feather Focus reserves the right to refuse any sale for any reason. My birds are
disease free and that means smoke-free as well.

  • Once a verbal (e-mail, phone etc) sales agreement has been made to purchase
specific bird(s), I will hold specific bird(s) no longer than 7 days from original
agreement date awaiting for your non-refundable deposit.

  • If the deposit or payment is not received within 7 days, the bird(s) will be placed
back up for sale. (There are of course exceptions to this rule, but the party involved
will be contacted in writing validating this agreement and it is null and void if it
    is not in writing)

  • If you placed a deposit on a baby that is still being hand-fed, and you are next
customer on the waiting list to receive a bird, you will get first pick from the
clutch. Band numbers will indicate which baby is yours.

  • Birds will NOT be held without a deposit, unless an agreement is in place prior to
purchase and is in writing to stave off miscommunication.

  • DNA testing is administered thru Avian Biotech. If you want a specific sex, I can
have that test done, but the test will be an additional $30 per bird tested, and at
the buyers expense which is in addition to the price of the bird.

  • I ship via Delta/Comair out of Sioux Falls, SD. As of May 1, 2009 Delta/Comair
merged with Nortwestern or vice-versa. Prices currently are around $95 and the
price will be quoted at the time the flight is booked.

  • Buyer is responsible for shipping and transportation costs and can be paid when
you pick up your bird(s) at the airport or cargo if they are able to go COD. If your
airline requires your bird(s) to be shipped as prepaid, then the buyer will have to
prepay Feather Focus before flight can be booked.

  • Birds will be shipped in an airline approved kennel. The size of the kennel that your
bird(s) will be shipped in depends on the number and size of birds being shipped.
Prices for these kennels vary and normally start at $25 (most common) and
customer is responsible for paying for the cost of the kennel.

  • If you made an agreement with Feather Focus to make payments, then those
payments are expected to be followed through with. Late charges will apply and
willbe specified in writing if that should ever have to be exercised.

  • In the case where a shipment is ready, and I have a specific flight, and for
whatever reason the buyer has to cancel or change the date, a "Keep and Care" fee
may be charged and is at the discretion of Feather Focus. In such a case, I will
    notify you via email.
  • You will be required to prepay these additional charges prior to scheduling another
shipping time. The "Keep and Care" fee will be at least ($1) a day. **This is
another one of those topics I recently added to my policies because I was rudely
awakened when I purchased a pair of african greys, and paid for in full and the
breeder kept them and most of my money. The heartbreaking thing about this
episode is NOT ONCE was "A Keep and Care fee" ever mentioned. No shipping date
was never set, and that breeder had so many excuses why she couldn't ship each
time I asked her "When are you shipping my birds?" This last time in response to
my question to her, she all of a sudden said I owed her another $900 for her "Keep
and care".  Yes, unfortunately, some breeders do things like this and I am still
learning that after 14 years in the bird business. This type of behavior will
eventually catch up to them, but at least I can sleep at night knowing I will not do
unto others that I would not want done to me, as I do not do business in that
    manner.

  • If for some reason you cannot keep your bird(s), I will gladly take it back.
However; with that being said, I am NOT in the business to buy them back.

  • This line is a new additon in the recent event that happened to Feather Focus and is
shown on my website. If for any reason you suspect your purchase is "just not
right" when you first get it (within 72 hours) you must immediately notify me. I
guarantee my birds, so this will not be an incident.

  • I will NOT sell any bird that has any genetic defects....PERIOD. I stand behind
each and every sale...100% satisfaction guaranteed. I was recently sold a
"supposedly high end DE White Quaker" only to have it pass away 16 days after I
received it. I contacted the breeder and asked for a replacement. The breeder will not
accept any responsibility. Necropsy results were performed and validate this
    breeders negligence.

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE  YOUR BIRDS ARRIVE**

  • Before you get your new bird(s) home, make sure you have everything ready. They
will be thirsty and may be hungry.  Be sure the cage is already set up with food
and water, some millet and tons of toys specific for your bird(s) you purchased, as
well as various types of perches.

  • I currently feed Living World Tropican, www.hagen.com (which I am also a
Hagen dealer) sprouts and a shell-less or no-waste mix of nuts, fruits, legumes,
brown rice, Quaker rolled oats, peanut hearts, sunflower hearts, alfalfa, Zupreem
Fruity pellets and 3 different types of ZUpreem Avian Entrees. I purchase some of
these ingredients at our local Brookings Farmer's Coop. All seed has been throughly
cleaned, processed and bagged at a fraction of the cost.

  • I make birdy bread which I feed daily to all my birds. I make a huge batch and
freeze the balance in daily portions. I purchase the original mix from
www.progrowproducts.com and then to this mixture I add several varieties of
vegetables, applesauce, fruits, cooked beans, brown rice, vitamins, powdered milk,
whole wheat and anything else I can think of.

  • I serve shell-less or no waste items in a small crock, and the cooked items in a
separate crock. I usually give them 3 different choices in low rise crocks in the
morning and also in the evening.

  • I provide Higgins Proteen egg food www.higginsgrpcorp.com on a daily basis. They
get as much egg food as they want during egg laying season and while they are
feeding babies. Egg food can be moistened, and the parents who are feeding young
ones can "gobble" and regurgitate this quickly into the hungry babies mouths!  (I
also buy this in a 25-lb bags from Higgins, which makes it economical and
    healthy too).

  • My birds are very tame, well adjusted, and have fantastic personalities, due to the
genetics from their parents/grandparents. Birds with pedigrees or great genetics,
are far better than the average bird because they have quality genetics, great
personalities, they produce big healthy chicks, and overall you will have a healthier
pet, show or breeding stock. Get the best of the best! You'll be forever glad you did!
Most of my breeders are tame, and allow me to touch their babies without biting.

  • I give credit to God, and all the SPECIAL PEOPLE who made Feather Focus evolve!
